Honeysuckle Cottage is an authentic life-sized thatched building surrounded by colourful gardens. Inside you will find some truly exclusive cottages, and from here you can take a tour of our Studios to see how the world's favourite miniature cottages are made.
Rose Cottage now houses a video presentation area, which allows you to sit down and view a specially-updated version of the Lilliput Lane video released in 1995. Presented by Hugh Scully, of the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow fame, the video takes you on a voyage of discovery from the humble beginnings of a fledgling company right up to the present day and is a must for all those wanting to know more about the history of Lilliput Lane. The video lasts for a little while, so you may wish to take a cup of tea in with you!
If you’re still in an enquiring mood, then take a walk up the yard to the special Paint Your Own Studio and peruse our informative display of technical items. Featuring many behind-the-scenes processes which are not covered in the tours — from moulds to metal-casting and add-ons to packaging — it’s all explained here.
And finally, whilst there, you’ll have to try your hand at painting your own Lilliput cottage. This new Paint Your Own Studio offers wheelchair access, as well as inspiration — as it is situated right next door to the painting studios, where you can have a look at the real thing before having a go yourself.
If you, or any of your guests would like to paint something else, then that’s okay too, as there is a wide range of items available to paint — including Wallace & Gromit, numerous Disney characters and Winnie the Pooh as well.
